How to install WinMX 3.53

We recommend you install MXPie Patch for WinMX before you start this installation.

1. Download WinMX 3.53 and save it on you hard disk drive
2. Start installation
   
3. Read licence agreement and click Yes, I accept this agreement to accept and move on.
   
4. Install in default location or choose another if you wish. Default location is recommended for most users. Click Next
   
5. Accept agreement again by clicking ACCEPT AGREEMENT
   
6. Start part two of installation: Settings. Click Next
   
7. Choose the nickname you want to use on the network (It is not recommended to use your real name or your e-mail address). Click Next
   
8. Choose your region. Click Next
   
9. Choose a folder for your incoming files. It's recommended that you make a folder for WinMX only. You can use a separate hard drive or a different partition if you want to. The next step will show you how.
   
10. Browse to a suitable folder for incoming files. You must make this folder in My Computer before you can choose it, as shown in the following picture. Choose folder, click OK
    
11. After choosing a folder for incoming files click Next
    
12. Chose what file types you want to share. You may add other filetypes in addition if thay are not listed as default ones. Click Next
    
13. Choose which folders you want to share. It's not recommended that you share the folder for incoming files. Click Share New Folder
    
14. Browse to the folder you want to share, click OK
    
15. Before you move on verify that the folder for incoming files is not in the shared files/folders list. You may share additional folders by clicking Share New Folder or remove already added folders by marking them in the list and clicking Unshare Selected Folder. Click Next when done.
    
16. Chose connection speed. Click Next
    
17. Start automatic test to determine if internet is available and if you can be connected directly to the winmx network. In most cases the result of this test will appear as the picture in step 18.
    
18. A significant amount of users connect to internet via cable or dsl modem with built in or seperate router. This means you will have to configure the router before you can successfully set any TCP and UDP ports for WinMX to use. We recommend you use what WinMX suggests and do the additional configuration after this installation is successfully finished. Click Next
    
19. Chose black or white color scheme. You may change this later and also adjust the colors however you want if you are not satisfied with the default scheme. Click Next
    
20. You are done! Click Next.
    
21. WinMX will now start automatically. If you installed MXPie Patch before you started this installation you will in most cases connect to the network in a few seconds. Good luck and remember we can help with questions you may have!
