Hi Joe

You may need to forward ports through your ROUTER this will have an effect on searches and up and downloads since you dont say what model you have here is a general tutorial on forwarding ports:

http://www.mxpie.info/router.html

Also all Primary users must run Peerguardian here is a tutorial om install:

Thankyou very much for your assistance. I see I have some work to do, and the per to peer scene had changed a great deal. I tried the limewire, but found it very ordinary compared to MX. I haven't used MX for some time, but wan to do some searching now. I have the MXPie Patch v3.6, but have not downloaded the Guardian. Looks like a lot of configuring though. i have netcomm nb5 router, but i found when i did the custom settings, and returned to available rules, the mx settings werre not in the drop down list in order to apply. so i don't know, i must be mising something. the guardian looks complicated but i guess it has to be done in order tobe as safe as possible. i'll try the customer settings again. Thanks for the advice and direction. Cheers.

Since you did not give the complete Model number of you router this one should be simular: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netcomm/NB5Plus4/WinMX.htm

fill in the ip and the tcp and udp port numbers in the provided boxes and scroll through the tutorial on who to setup portforwarding.

Thankyou very much for your assistance. With the combination of your advice & a couple of other notices, I was able to get action, setup the ports disable the firewall, and now the downloads are working. I'm getting some timeouts, but at least I am receiving search results. Thankyou so much for your assistance.

4. In the large empty space next to the word “Filter” type the following:
MXPie English Help Channel_46B25BC1138D
5. Click “Join”
6. You will then appear in MXPie Help Channel.

**Please note you need WinMX version 3.53 or 3.54b to custom enter a room. WinMX 3.31 does not have

this feature.
