Hi. I have been using MX for ... too many to remember. As recently as a month or 2 ago it was running fine. Today, something is wrong. I am using 3.53mx and v3.6Patch. I even tried on 2 different and entirely seperate drives. My computer is private, no router and I turned off the anti-malware to test mx.

What is happening is I connect as primary (usual), can search (many results) and it looks normal. When I try and transfer a file, it connects, negotiates and brings up the numbers but it stops at that point. Sometimes It will show about 2,000 but 0.0 in speed and never continues. only once, out of 30 times did a file transfer. All the others stopped at 0.0 right after negotiating. I have even tried Secondars networking but no change. After many years of using MX, I'm stumped.

Remember, I tried 2 different drives with 2 different installations. I shut down the computer, unplugged drive 1 and moved the plugs to the other drive and booted on drive 2. Same problem. I am not on Comcast, Verizon or any other big chain but I do have Fiber at 750k.

Please give me some suggestions.

Thanks, Buster

Hi Buster

Very strange, when your Primary how many Primary and how many Secondary connections do you get? P=? S=? You must also run Peerguardian when running Priamry if you are using Vista it needs to be installed differently let us know what operating system you are using.

Are you using the bandwidth throttle? or could you of changed any settings? You could try setting everything back to default.

Hi moni951. Thanks for getting back to me. I checked and my P-5 or 6, my S=12 and my SPM=12243. The bandwidth showed Incoming at 9,600 and Outgoing at 6,800. My Fiber is directly connected to my computer and is set at 56k (560kb) and a speed check shows consistently over 50. My upload is the same speed as me download. Confirmed by my ISP.

To the best of my knowledge I am not throttling my bandwidth. If the settings got changed on my main drive, they wouldn't have been changed on my second drive as it wasn't backed to since way before this problem started. My OS is ... please don't laugh, w2000Pro with SP4 and Rollup1. It is the same OEM OS I 1st installed on my system. I really like the control that I have over files and programs compared to the later XP and especially the Vista.

I can connect to some people in the search list and some are fast. Still, most, by a huge margin, come up as if it would transfer but it just site at 0.0 speed.

Occasionally, when this happened, after I waited a long time, a transfer speed would come up as 0.16 or similar despite the face that they were DSL or Cable.

This is all a recent problem. Just several months ago, I would get good speeds from almost everybody. All my other data downloads go fine and show as much as 60k. I did retry MX again just before posting this reply.

Hi again. That was me above and I forgot to use my user name so it came out as guest. I also forgot to mention that I am using MX 3.53, MX Monitor and MX Pie Patch 3.6. I am not sure what you ment by Peregurdian but if it isn't in the items I described above, I have never run it.

Could it be ... I have heard that some ISP's are choking back on the upload speed through PP file sharing software?

Thanks again, Buster

Isp's will and can effect any p2p program this is what you may be seeing the Primary numbers you have are about normal and i would say its not a firewall problem but isp related. This is the link for installing Peerguardian http://www.gemini777.net/tutorials/pg.php all Primary need to run this to keep flooders out of the system pick the version for w2000 and add the lists reccomended in the tutorial.
