How do I keep these following files from appearing on my desktop? {lib4.dat, settings.dat, ignore.dat} Every time I delete them they will just reappear after starting winmx or mxmoni.

These files belongs to WinMX application. Probably, when you installed WinMX you have changed the natural path for the application, which is C:\Program Files\WinMX.
Better uninstall it and make a new install of WinMX.

I think he'd installed WinMX on his desktop, I bet everytime he deleted those files... WinMX start like new, best thing to do as Sam said is, install WinMX somewhere else and create a shortcut to WinMX executable on your desktop
